The Boatshed is Australian Sailing’s Victorian sailing centre and one of the largest sail training centres in Australia. Managed directly by Australian Sailing we run programs for adults, teenagers & kids from beginner level through to Team Sailing. Working with us, you will have the opportunity to live and work in the heart of Melbourne, based at Albert Park Lake, as well as travel throughout Victoria delivering programs with our Mobile unit.

Focused on significantly growing participation in sailing, we deliver programs for kids, teenagers, adults and schools. The Tackers Program (learn to sail for kids 7-12) is a key part of our operations with programs running every week of the school holidays and on weekends. Tackers is also a key component of our school programs that incorporate, primary and secondary learn to sail through to teams racing. Adult programs run on weekends in addition to our Sailability and Corporate groups.

The highlight of the season with us is the summer break holiday programs which see us travel to clubs throughout Victoria to deliver our programs from Christmas until the end of January. Our mobile unit also provides the opportunity to deliver sailing programs to schools at camps through Victoria.

While RYA qualifications do not allow you to instruct in Australia, they are recognised as prior learning so becoming qualified here is a matter of filling in a form and paying a fee (which includes insurance coverage for your instructing). US Sailing and ISA qualifications are also recognised but require additional assessment.
