Adults Teens

Start Sailing 1 & 2 courses are targeted at teenagers and adults and provides a safe and enjoyable introduction to dinghy sailing. The course includes introducing and building fundamental boat handling skills and essential safety knowledge. At the end of the course we expect you to be able to jump on any boat, big or small and be a valuable sailing member.

Start Sailing Introductory Course – 3 hours

Perfect for those testing the waters. This is a short introduction to sailing. A taste of sailing for those thinking about participating in the Teenager/Adult Learn to Sail Program.The program is aimed at Teenagers and Adults. The goal of this program is to get participants comfortable in small boats and introduce basic sailing concepts. Although participants will learn basic sailing skills, this is the first day of the Start sailing 1 course, so if you would like to continue for the rest of the course all you have to do is pay the difference.

Start Sailing 1 – 3 x half days

Your Discover Sailing journey starts here as you learn the fundamental skills of sailing and are introduced to the fun of dinghy sailing in a safe and supportive environment. Topics covered include basic clothing and equipment selection, sailing terminology, boat launch and recovery, capsize recovery in shallow water.

Start Sailing 2 – 3 x half days

Your Discover Sailing journey continues as you master all of the fundamental dinghy sailing skills. You are now equipped to sail your dinghy on your own voyages of discovery. Topics covered include rigging of the boat, capsize recovery in deeper water, sail a triangular course, basic sailing rules and theory.

Start Sailing 1 & 2 combined – 5 days (School Holiday Programs)

This covers both the Start Sailing 1 and Start Sailing 2 syllabus.

Better Sailing – 3 x half days

Discover Sailing in stronger winds as you develop the skills required to get maximum speed from your dinghy. You will learn towing, capsize recovery of inverted boat,  understand and identify weather and environmental conditions.
